Ferris Wheel- a short story

Chloe Andrews ran to the bus. She covered her head with her hood, trying to avoid raindrops from watering her hair. She couldn’t stand the feeling of coldness on her skin. Finally, she made it, she entered her bus. She took off her wet jacket and threw her schoolbag to the nearest empty seat. She sat beside her schoolbag and put on her Ipod. She was very tired, because she had PE, accounting test, biology test, and physics quiz on that day. She winced at the thought of accounting test, which she could barely do it. She lost her care about physics already.

The air conditioner was turned on. The temperature slowly chilled inside. Chloe was smart enough not to put on her wet jacket. Then, she felt silly to wish Owen, her boyfriend, was there, and lending his jacket to her. It’s impossible. Owen’s 6 miles away from her. Chloe stared at the raindrops behind the window and slowly drifted to sleep.

Chloe woke up when she felt a sudden massive change of her Ipod’s volume. She turned down the volume and stared at the window. The rain stopped, but the sky was dark. She caught a glimpse of a ferris wheel. Wasn’t there where I and Owen-? Hey, the theme park’s stop should be aft- Damn, I missed my stop!

As soon as the bus stop, Chloe said bye to her schoolmates, grabbed her schoolbag and jacket, and got off the bus.

Chloe glanced at her watch, and realized she missed the last bus which went to her house’s direction. She texted her dad, asked him to pick her up.

3 minutes later, her father replied. He couldn’t pick her up until his meeting with his important client’s over. Chloe’s heart sank, knew that it would take hours.

She looked around. A big gate caught her attention. It’s the amusement park’s gate, the same gate where she and her friends entered when the prom got them bored.

Chloe went to the locket, bought the free-pass ticket, then entered the park. The park wasn’t crowded as usual, probably because of the rain.

Chloe walked pass the merry go round. She’s too grown up to take a ride on one of the little horses.

Suddenly, a man dressed in a vampire costume approached Chloe, grab her small hand, and pointed to the haunted house. Spontaneously, she let go of the vampire’s hands, which left a confused expression on his pale face. Chloe smiled, knowing her times wasted on aikido lessons are actually useful. Chloe’s too scared to go to the haunted house alone, because she had entered it with he friends on her previous visit, and concluded that the house is scary enough to give her friends nightmares for a week. Chloe shook her head politely.

As Chloe started to walk, she remembered the frightened looks on her friends’ faces after they went inside the haunted house. Her best friend, Claire, swore never to enter any haunted houses again. She missed Claire so much. She hadn’t meet Claire after her transfer to another school.

The rain started to pour. Chloe wasn’t care.

Chloe stopped in front of the mirror house. She remembered, when she was 9, she and Claire once got lost there for hours and cried there together, until a security guard found them. She never missed Claire this much. Tears ran down her pale face.

Chloe turned around, and saw a huge ferris wheel. She’d taken her time to walk there and sat in a cart. The cart started to move up slowly. When it reached the top, she wiped her tears as she stared at the view. She saw the whole park from there. She thought she experienced a déjà vu at first. Then she realized that it wasn’t a déjà vu, she already saw this view with Owen. It’s the same exact location where she had her first kiss. Chloe’s mind spun fast. Before she knew it, the cart reached the ground. She got off immediately; she knew if she stayed longer, it’ll hurt her again. She never met him for a long time and it’s killing her.

Suddenly, Chloe felt something warm wrapped around her. She looked down and found an oversized grey jacket was around her small body.

Chloe smiled, “Hey Owen.”

Things You Can Learn from High School Dramas

“No matter what the truth is, people always see what they want to see.”

And they also say all the things you want to hear. Here’s a little example: a friend of mine said I looked like Taylor Momsen when I told her I would love to have Taylor’s hairstyle. I’m a short brunette and an Asian. Taylor’s a tall blond. I mean, WTH?? Second thought, maybe, she just wanted to make me happy. But by telling a white lie?

Taylor Momsen

“Don’t trust everyone; they all will disappoint you in the end.”

Your friends, your boyfriend, and every single living (and dead) human in this planet.

Why I said those words:

I used to have a friend. Just call her V. I used to think she’s just fun, harmless and a bit superficial. Even tough my other friends informed me all about V’s dirt; I actually still believe in her and stay friends with her. I was like, “It’s okay. She’s only human.” GOD, I was so naïve.

Time goes on and we transferred to another school with 2 of our friends, call them T and S. S was so depressed, thought moving school was the worst mistake she made in her life, and I often found her crying. T’s stronger than S, even tough she missed her friends, she still can put on her “poker face”. V’s another story, she moved on so fast, she found some friends, and she’s dating the popular-kid-you-hate-but-you-don’t-dare-to-do-anything-to-him-and-his-power (I’m not exaggerating, I ever overheard his fellow so-called-popular-friend talk shit about him, and another friend of mine actually told me she hated him).

Then, V backstabbed S. V talked shit about S to me and god knows who else. I kept those shits to myself, told myself not to believe it and stay quiet. Before long, S realized the shit, even without me telling her. Those shits definitely put S on a miserable and hated position around everyone (a trusted friend informed me something she heard from her friend about the shit V ever told me).

Around a month ago I visited my friends and my bf in my old school. A mutual friend came to me and asked me to confirm a rumor about me and my bf. To my surprise, she mentioned something I only told V privately (and that means when no one is around). V talked about and without me. I started to run out of my patience.

On an ordinary day, like usual, I log on my msn account S told me something about V’s bitchy actions to her. I exploded. I cornered V online (I wish I had more patience and did it face to face). In the end, V asked me, “Are we still friends?” I answered yes and even said good luck after she said something about breaking her habit.

Time passed by, a very reliable source, my bff, M informed me that another trusted friend told her about S burst out (and shaded her tears) her side of the story of the evilness of V in a friend’s party. I can’t believe V’s still doing it to S!

I don’t want to talk to V anymore.

You might wondering, “What is she doing? It’s not even her problem”, or suggesting, “She should STFU.”

In my defense, V and S knew each other and used to be friends longer than I and V used to. V actually did (and still doing) those things to S. V can (and will, certainly) do those things to me. I mean, I already know she talked about me behind my back, and god knows what else she did. And I don’t want to be involved (especially as a main character) on her drama. So, I “backed off” and problem solved.

And, finally, don’t waste your breath telling me to be a good girl and stay friends with V. I won’t. She already lost my trust. And I don’t want to be involved anymore.

Just don’t make the same mistake.

Have a nice life,

Pulangnya, (juga nebeng CS. THX CS!!) gw masih blom puas nangisin kepindahan sekolah bareng CS. Nangisnya seolah-olah bonyok lu mati, ok gw agak ngelebih-lebihin, hmm, kayak anjing lu mati (dan lu pecinta binatang). Detail2 penting gak penting ttg sekolah lama (ketik ‘lama’nya kerasa sakitnya) kesebut hampir semua. Udah 2 bulan lebih bertahan, masih dalam nestapa kayak gini. Aneh, padahal dulu waktu pindah dari SD gak kayak gini. Mungkin ini artinya gw sm CS bner2 sayang sekolah lama (ouch). Susah bgt buat move on dan gw gak yakin semuanya bakal membaik.

Buat lu yang satu sekolah sama temen2 bae lu (&cowo lu) (&nilai lu gak ancur-ancur amet), saran gw buat lu: ‘taste and cherish every moment’)
